| The first Beaux
Arts Ball presented by Champagne
Nicolas Feuillatte was held on April
1st, 2005 at the Manhattan Center in
New York City. The Ball, which follows
in the tradition of the legendary art
students’ party in Paris, was intended
to celebrate and welcome the next generation
of artists to the New York community.
Six of the most renowned art schools of
the city, including National Academy School
of Fine Arts, New York Academy of Art,
Pratt Institute, School of Visual Arts,
Fashion Institute of Technology, and New
York Studio School had been invited to
take part in the competition and asked
to build a float around the theme of beauty.
At midnight, the floats were presented
in music to the audience and to a panel
of judges comprised of art specialists
(gallery owners, curators and art dealers).
Based on innovation and creativity, the
jury selected the “Cabaret Scene” from the
School of Visual Arts as the winning float. Champagne
corks popped, and the School of Visual
Arts students team was awarded a week-long
trip to Paris to meet artists, visit galleries
and museums, and experience the rich artistic
culture of the city, a trip they took in
the Spring of 2006.
For the 500 guests attending that night
the spectacle was dazzling. This highly
successful first Bal will surely be the
beginning of a great New York tradition
and a long-term partnership with Champagne
Nicolas Feuillatte. |
